This maintenance index records specific editorial work and routes to the wiki's maintenance reports. It is a working list, not an automatic monitor. Items should be dated and checked again before editing, because other contributors may already have resolved them.

Review priorities

The following items were identified in a source and navigation review on 7 October 2026. Completed work is recorded below; open items remain in this table.

Pages Work to check Completion criterion
Idiomslist All twelve object groups now have usage notes with sourced examples or explicit contextual reading guidance. Entries not specifically covered by those notes still need individual dictionary or corpus checks. Add evidence beside remaining expressions, checking complete wording, register and regional usage without assuming that every item is an idiom.
I.A. Richards The body repeats the article's name as a level-one heading. Review heading structure for consistency with the contributor guide, preserving the biographical text.
Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Bluebeard The available digital versions are now identified. Fuller bibliographic provenance could be added if a matching print edition or scan is established. Add only verified edition or translation information; retain an explicit uncertainty where no translator is credited.

For an external link that fails, record the URL, date and observed problem. A failed automated fetch alone does not establish that the source has disappeared. Check the publisher's catalogue, a stable identifier or an authorised archive before changing it.

Completed: Chaucer corrections and idiom usage notes

On 7 October 2026, The Physician's Tale, The Manciple's Tale, Sir Thopas's Tale and The Monk's Tale were checked against Harvard's Middle English texts and interlinear translations. Targeted corrections address Virginia's response, Phoebus's accusation against the crow, Thopas's dream and encounter with Olifaunt, and details concerning Delilah, Hercules and Nebuchadnezzar. Each article now identifies source passages and separates events from characters' or narrators' judgements. The existing article structures were retained.

Idiomslist received usage notes across all twelve object groups, distinguishing established expressions, descriptive wording and suggested associations. Dictionary references support named examples. Small corrections address the ball-in-their-court gloss, courtroom and shipping senses of dock, the forms set in stone and bite off more than you can chew, and other wording. This is a sourced first pass, not a claim that every expression has been individually verified; the remaining work is recorded above.

Completed: source notes and reading comparisons

On 7 October 2026, the following twenty articles received short additions connecting source passages, edition details or contextual reading with related pages. Existing prose was retained. One malformed Apollodorus URL in Theseus and the Minotaur was repaired.

These additions do not mark every claim in every article as exhaustively reviewed. A source note should identify what it supports; a comparison should remain recognisable as a proposed reading.

Recording a review

Use a compact entry: page; issue; source or evidence; proposed addition or correction; date; status. Close an item when the published page has been checked, rather than when a draft has merely been prepared. Keep any correction as small as the evidence permits, and preserve useful existing material.
